MEMBERSHIP
Bimco is the largest of the international shipping associations representing shipowners and many other shipping companies with headquarter in Rungsted, Denmark. Its membership controls around 65 percent of the world’s tonnage and it has members in more than 120 countries, including a significant number of managers, brokers and agents. The association’s main objective is to protect its global membership through the provision of information and advice, and while promoting fair business practices, facilitate harmonisation and standardization of commercial shipping practices and contracts. In support of its commitment to promote the development and application of global regulatory instruments, BIMCO is accredited as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with all relevant United Nations organs. In an effort to promote its agenda and objectives, the association maintains a close dialogue with governments and diplomatic representations around the world, including maritime administrations, regulatory institutions, and other stakeholders within the areas of EU, the United States, and Asia. Even since the beginning of Spanmark Chartering we have been permanent members and will remain so for the future to come.
The Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations Ltd (FOSFA) is a professional international contract issuing and arbitral body involved exclusively with the world trade in oilseeds, oils and fats. The headoffice is in London and they count today with 1,150 members in 89 countries. All these members include producers and processors, shippers and dealers, traders, brokers and agents, superintendents, analysts, shipowners, ship brokers, tank storage companies, arbitrators, consultants, lawyers, insurers and others, providing services to the trade. Internationally, 85% of the global trade in oils and fats is traded under FOSFA contracts. Vanguard Shipping has been member of the association for well over a decade and will continue so thanks to our growing involvement not only in the aforementioned products but also in the related biofuel industry.
Ics, Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers is known as the largest network of professional Shipbrokers, managers and Agents. Institute membership combine the knowledge gained through study, proven through examination, with a business ethic based on «Our word , our bond» that reflects confidence into the industry worldwide. Vanguard shipping has one of its partners as member since 1991 and other staff are surely candidates in the future. The headofffice of the institute is located in London.
